Background & Description

Job description: Female Medical Officer (FMO) position has to fill the gap of qualified health worker at BHU level to facilitate women, new born and children to conduct OPD in both supported BHUs on alternate days and six (06) days in a week to improve health status in hosting remote union councils of district Peshawar under scope of project. FMO will also conduct mentoring sessions for LHVs and Social Mobilizers to improve their knowledge and develop capacities to facilitate beneficiaries. FMO will also manage the staff at BHU level and attend meetings with partner organization and supported communities to enhance participation & reputation of organization.

 

Main Responsibilities / Duties:

·         Leads & supervises staff working at respective BHUs,

·         Conduct daily OPD six days in a week on rotation basis to provide curative care services to women and children,

·         Identify high-risk cases and diseases, not manageable at BHU and timely refer them with proper referral protocols to a designated hospital/clinic,

·         Submit supply request in time on a standard requisition form duly signed by her to project office Peshawar,

·         Identify training needs for staff working in respective BHUs and submit a written request to line manager for organizing capacity development trainings workshops,

·         Provide on job mentoring to LHVs/TBAs/LHWs on topics e.g. diagnosis and management of ARI, URTI/LRTI, diarrhea, scabies, screening of danger signs in a pregnant woman, management of labor, post-natal care, early new born care etc,

·         Ensure that all programmatic issues are discussed with the line manager and also

·         Actively participate in planning and projection sessions,

·         Report any incidence/staff related issue to line manager for in time management,

·         Ensure good standard of cleanliness/sanitation in work area through staff assigned for cleaning,

·         Ensure all staff working under her supervision, are working effectively and efficiently on regular basis, while also report any irregularities (if found) immediately to her line manager,

·         Check all recording & reporting documents/tools and ensure they are being updated on regular basis,

·         Maintain good working relationship with/between Org/DoH staff and local community,

·         Assess/analyze the situation in case of emergencies such as out-breaks and epidemics and immediately report to the project manager for timely interventions

·         Ensure that all equipment is in good condition and all inventories are properly listed

·         and physically present,

·         Ensure timely submission of standard weekly/fortnightly/monthly reports to her supervisor regularly without any delays/excuses,

·         Submit weekly work plans of staff to project office Peshawar on regular basis & maintain the record of work plans in a file,

·         Hold weekly staff meeting to review progress against activities agreed/submitted during last week work plan on regularly basis,

·         Submit in time, the written minuets of weekly meeting to project office Peshawar for necessary action,

·         Attend/represent organization in various meetings/workshops held in respective BHUs,

Follow proper chain of command and communication lines within the organization,
·         Any other job related additional task (s) assigned by the supervisor or senior management.

Requirements and Skills

Qualifications and experience essential:

Ø  MBBS from a recognized institute in Pakistan;

Ø  Registered with Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and having a valid registration;

Ø  Pakistani citizen;

Ø  Significant experience in related role (at least 3 years);

Ø  Work experience in a similar role with an INGO (at least 2 years).

 

Desirable:

Ø  Familiar with local culture & customs;

Ø  Any additional training/qualification received in related fields;

Ø  Trained in ultrasonography;

Ø  Fluently speaks Pashto & Urdu;

Ø  A good team player.

 

 

 

Education

Ø  MBBS from a recognized institute in Pakistan;

Ø  Registered with Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and having a valid registration;
