Background & Description

Job description: Medical Officer (Pediatrics) position has to fill the gap of qualified health worker at BHU level to facilitate children by conducting OPD in three supported BHUs on a roving position six (06) days in a week to improve the health status in hosting remote union councils of district Peshawar under scope of project. MO will also conduct mentoring sessions for LHVs and Social Mobilizers to improve their knowledge and develop capacities to facilitate beneficiaries. On behalf of organization, the MO will also attend meetings with partner organization and supported communities to enhance participation & reputation of organization.

 

Main Responsibilities / Duties:

·         Conduct daily OPD, six days in a week on rotation basis (2 days in each BHU) to provide curative care services to children of targeted communities,

Provide medical consultations, treatment and follow up as per WHO/national diagnosis protocols and treatment guidelines,
·         Identify high-risk cases and diseases, not manageable at BHU and timely refer them with proper referral protocols to a designated hospital,

·         Submit medicine supply request in time on a standard requisition form duly signed by him to project office,

·         Provide on job mentoring to LHVs/TBAs/LHWs on topics e.g. diagnosis of ARI, URTI/LRTI, diarrhea, scabies, Measles, early new born care etc,

·         Report any incidence/staff related issue to line manager in time for the management,

·         Ensure good standard of cleanliness/sanitation in work area through staff assigned for cleaning,

·         Check all recording & reporting documents/tools related to Peads OPD and ensure they are being updated on regular basis,

·         Maintain good working relationship with/between MI/DoH staff and local community,

·         Assess/analyze situation in case of emergencies such as disease out-breaks and immediately report to project manager for timely interventions,

·         Ensure all equipment is physically present and in a working condition,

·         Ensure timely submission of monthly OPD report to respective FMO to incorporate in monthly BHU report,

·         Hold weekly meeting with social mobilizers to update them on common illnesses managed during the week to plan preventive awareness sessions for communities,

·         Attend/represent organization in various meetings/workshops held in respective BHUs,

Follow proper chain of command and communication lines within organization,
·         Any other job related additional task (s) assigned by the supervisor or senior management.

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements and Skills

Qualifications and experience essential:

 

Ø  MBBS from a recognized institute in Pakistan;

Ø  Registered with Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and having a valid registration;

Ø  Pakistani citizen;

Ø  Significant experience in related role (at least 3 years);

Ø  Work experience in a similar role with an INGO (at least 2 years).

 

Desirable:

Ø  Familiar with local culture & customs;

Ø  Any additional training/qualification received in related field,

Ø  Fluently speaks Pashto & Urdu;

Ø  A good team player.
