Background & Description

Job description: Under direct supervision of Project Manager and technical guidance of Health Program Coordinator, the Psychosocial Counselor is responsible to provide day to day psychological support to the beneficiaries of health project implemented by Organization in collaboration with the district health authorities in 03 supported union councils of district Peshawar.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

§  Organize individual or group psychological support counselling sessions for the men attending health facility or through outreach services;

§  Support/guide parents, families and teachers on how to identify signs of possible psychological vulnerabilities in their children/family member/students;

§  Hold regular meetings with FMO/SMs/community representatives to identify cases & their needs and plan accordingly;

§  Participate in project staff meetings held on weekly basis at BHU level & monthly basis at project office;

§  Provide psychological support to cases referred by the Social Mobilizers;

§  Coordinate with partner organizations working in supported union councils;

§  Follow proper chain of command and communication lines within the organization;

§  Any other job related additional tasks assigned by the supervisor/senior management.

Reporting:

§  Produce and maintain the record of sessions; conducted for beneficiaries,

§  Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports to her supervisor by copying (Cc) to other concerned persons,

§  Set up a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and the impact of planned individual and group psychological support sessions on the beneficiaries,

§  Write case studies and success stories on psychosocial intervention and share with all concerned.

Meeting: 

§  Participate in weekly/monthly staff meetings held at BHU/project office/partner office etc;

§  Keep good liaison/coordination with the project and partner organization staff,

§  Represent Organization on relevant forums;

 

Requirements and Skills

Qualifications:

§  Holding master’s degree in social sciences preferably in Psychology,

§  At least 3-4 years of work experience in similar position;

§  Excellent writing and reporting skills;

§  Strong interpersonal communication skills;

§  Computer literate.

Desirable:

§  Local female, familiar with local norms and culture of KPK;

§  Fluent in Pashto and Urdu;

§  Any additional training/diploma received in related field,

§  Highly committed and flexible in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation,
