Background & Description

Job description: Social Mobilizer position is responsible to take a lead for social mobilization activities in the targeted union council of district Peshawar. The main function of position holder is to assess the needs for social mobilization, designing context and subject-based social mobilization plan for implementation and monitoring the effectiveness of the plan and establish effective beneficiary communication and feedback system to evaluate the performance of conducted activities. Social Mobilizer will also ensure that all planned activities have been implemented as per the project design.  

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Conduct health awareness/education sessions at BHU and through outreach to disseminate information on health, hygiene and nutrition to promote healthy & hygienic behaviors among local communities to improve their health status,
Motivate and mobilize community on health, nutrition & hygiene practices in accordance with the local culture and norms of the target population to promote personal/domestic/environmental hygiene, safe drinking water and sanitation, increased access to health care services by women and children, principles of safe motherhood, and awareness regarding prevention from infectious/communicable diseases,
Raise the knowledge level of communities, patients and caregivers regarding health, hygiene and nutritional issues,
Ensure community involvement and participation in Health and Hygiene activities according to spirit of PHAST (Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation),
Assist in development of appropriate health education and training materials as per community need,
Assess health and nutritional status of the community if/as required by the program to plan activities as per their need,
Conduct weekly meeting with the health team on every weekend to discuss the common/seasonal illnesses and health related issues to focus on them during coming week work plan,
·         Prepare and submit weekly work plan in consultation with their supervisor,

·         Prepare and submit reports on weekly/monthly basis to their supervisor for onwards submission to project manager,

·         Plan and distribute infant kits among children < 1 year on successful completion of vaccination under routine EPI program as per set criterion and regularly maintain/update documentation;

·         Maintain good working relationship with health team working in targeted BHUs,

·         Keep close coordination with their line manager to ensure team work & effective working,

·         Be punctual/regular in their duties being flexible to work according to project needs,

·         Attend weekly/monthly meetings convened at BHU/project office level,

·         Conduct monthly VHC & LHW meetings at each respective BHU/UC,

·         Conduct client satisfaction surveys to assess the importance & effectiveness of messages/information disseminated during awareness sessions,

·         In case of an emergency, immediately report to their supervisor,

·         Respect organizational policies/rules,

·         Follow proper chain of command and communication within the organization,

·         Any other job related additional task (s) assigned by their supervisor (s).

 

Reporting:

§  Produce and maintain the record of sessions; conducted for beneficiaries,

§  Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports to her supervisor by copying (Cc) to other concerned persons,

§  Set up a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and the impact of planned awareness sessions by interviewing the participants/beneficiaries,

§  Write case studies and success stories and share with all concerned.

Meeting: 

§  Participate in weekly/monthly staff meetings held at BHU/project office/partner office etc;

§  Keep good liaison/coordination with the project and partner organization staff,

§  Represent Organization on relevant forums;

 

 

 

Requirements and Skills

Qualifications:

§  Holding at least bachelor degree in social sciences/health profession related degree,

§  At least 3-4 years of work experience in similar position;

§  Good report writing skills;

§  Strong interpersonal communication skills;

§  Computer literate.

Desirable:

§  Local male & female, familiar with local norms and culture of KP;

§  Fluent in Pashto and Urdu;

§  Any additional training/diploma received in related field,

§  Highly committed and flexible in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation,

Education
