Description

Nutrition International (NI) is currently working with the Government of Pakistan in 110 districts of Pakistan with strengthened monitoring in 90 districts, supporting Provincial Departments of Health (DoH) and the salt sector in implementation of the USI program. The province/region wise list of target districts is attached as “Annexure 1”. For strengthening and consolidation of the program, NI plans to outsource activities related to training/capacity building, advocacy and progress review meetings for effective implementation and efficient use of resources.

Eligibility

Task One 

To undertake refreshers trainings based on the training module provided by NI for selected salt processors (1151) on adequate iodization and internal quality control. (No. of training sessions as per list attached as Annexure-2)

Activities:

  • Coordinate with NI, DoH and Salt Processor Associations of the concerned districts for conducting the training workshops, venue setting and provision of training materials.
  • Re-sensitize salt processors, at district level, on Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDDs), its control through salt iodisation and train them on different techniques of quality assurance and quality control for salt iodization by using of Rapid Test Kits (RTKs) and maintain internal quality control laboratories to maintain adequate salt iodization and upkeep iodization equipment.

Deliverables:  

A brief report on the training to be submitted within 7 days after completion of each activity. The report should contain along with details of the activities, the following sections:

  1. Total number of salt processors sensitized & trained in each session and district along with signed attendance sheet of the participants where applicable.
  2. Report on change in knowledge and skills through pre and post assessment of training program.

Task Two

To train 40 Food Safety Officers based on a training module preapproved by NI on food safety management and monitoring and implementation of USI program (No. of training sessions as per list attached as Annexure-2)

Activities:

  • Organise and conduct  trainings of Food Safety Officers in coordination with NI and Ministry of National Health, Services, Regulations and Coordination’s (MoNHSR&C), Punjab Food Authority and Punjab Food department at provincial level assuring venue setting and supply of logistics required.
  • Conduct trainings assessments to determine training effectiveness through pre and post assessment of training program.

Deliverable:

A brief report on the training to be submitted within 7 days after completion of the activity. The report should contain along with details of the activities, the following sections:

  1. Total number of Food Safety Officers trained in each province/ region along with signed attendance sheet of the participants where applicable.
  2. Result of the trainings in terms of enhancement of knowledge and skills and corrective actions taken.

Task Three

Organize annual review meeting:

Activities:  

  • To plan, conduct and provide logistics support for Annual Program Review meeting at national level in consultation with NI. Venue will be decided in consultation with the Government of Pakistan and NI.

Deliverables:

A brief report on the training to be submitted within 7 days after completion of each activity (as per format attached as Annexure 3). The report should contain along with details of the activities, the following sections:

  1. Total number of participants along with signed attendance sheet.
  2. Key statement/decisions taken by the key stakeholders
  3. Pictures of the event

Task Four

To organize lab technicians trainings on quality assurance, 2 in Punjab, one each in Sindh and in KP.  (No. of training sessions as per list attached as Annexure-2)

Activities:

  • Organise and conduct trainings of Lab Technicians in coordination with NI and Ministry of National Health, Services, Regulations and Coordination’s (MoNHSR&C) at provincial level assuring venue setting and supply of logistics required.
  • Conduct trainings assessments to determine training effectiveness through pre and post assessment of training program.

Deliverable:

A brief report on the training to be submitted within 7 days after completion of the activity (as per format attached as Annexure 3). The report should contain along with details of the activities, the following sections:

  • Total number of lab technicians trained in each province/ region along with signed attendance sheet of the participants where applicable.
  • Result of the trainings in terms of enhancement of knowledge and skills and corrective actions taken through pre and post-test and the questionnaire is prepared by the facilitator.

Task Five 

To organize sensitization sessions for monitoring and effective implementation of USI program through Civil Society Organizations in four provinces. The objective of the session is to generate awareness and support in implementation of the program at grass root level.

Activities:

  • Plan 4 sessions, its venue setting and ensure logistic supplies in coordination with NI and DoH in four provinces.

Deliverables:

A brief report on workshops to be submitted within 7 days after completion of each activity (as per format attached as Annexure 3). The report should contain along with details of the activities, and the following sections:

  1. Total number of participants attending each session along with signed attendance/ registration sheet of the participants where applicable.

 

Task Six

To organize sensitization sessions with local government on effects of Iodine deficiency disorders and use of iodized salt will be held in four provinces in consultation with the DoH

Activities:

  • Plan 4 sessions, its venue setting and ensure logistic supplies in coordination with NI and DoH in four provinces.

A brief report on workshops to be submitted within 7 days after completion of each activity (as per format attached as Annexure 3). The report should contain along with details of the activities, and the following sections:

  • Total number of participants attending each session along with signed attendance/ registration sheet of the participants where applicable.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of public health and development of training and communication materials.
  • Competent in written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience working with NI is an asset.
  • Strong coordination , communication and representation skills

The Technical and Financial Proposal in two separate files put into a covering email specifically indicating the subject line “Proposal on - Support in Conducting Training Activities, Advocacy and Progress Review Meetings for the Salt Iodization Program” and should be sent to Email: mipakistan@nutritionintl.org. The proposal (Technical and Financial) along with all requisite documentation must be received in English by NI no later than than May 24, 2017.
