Calls for the I. A. Rehman Research Grant for 2021 are now open. The grant is named in honour of the veteran human rights defender and former secretary-general of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
Based on the recommendation of an independent jury of senior academics and human rights defenders, HRCP will award one grant of PKR 350,000 to an academic, journalist or human rights defender/professional for original research carried out in any area of human rights (civil, political, economic, social, cultural, or environmental) in Pakistan. The grant is open to Pakistani citizens or foreign nationality holders of Pakistani heritage.
The recipient must submit a final report (between 5,000 and 7,000 words) to HRCP for review and approval by 13 August 2021. HRCP will publish the document in English and Urdu for dissemination among policymakers, human rights defenders, academics and the media.

- Submit a 400-to-500-word research statement, explaining how your proposed topic is aligned with HRCP’s work and how it will contribute to the literature on human rights and/or to the human rights movement in Pakistan.
