Background & Description

Shirakat - Partnership for Development is a non profit organization looking for suitable candidate for the position of driver 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Driving 

  • Drive vehicle for official travel and business, or as requested by concerned Officer
  • Maintain high standard of service to both internal and external guests
  • Ensure punctuality and safe transport
  • Observing the road and traffic laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
  • Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes andinternally      agreed standards.
  • Drugs and alcohols is not allowed on duty
  • Supportive to travelers and providing required help with luggage and other stuff
  • Support persons with disabilities as and when required 

Vehicle Security and Maintenance

  • Ensures adherences to SHIRAKAT’s Safety and Security standards
  • Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times
  • Ensure vehicle is kept secure at all times
  • Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, lights etc.
  • Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out properly by official vendors or as per instructions of the person responsible in Office.
  • Assist the Admin and Accounts Officer to ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule 

Vehicle Logbook maintenance

  • Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, time etc.

Administrative works 

  • Provide assistant to the Office Assistant in the time working at the office, includingbut not limited to:
  • Facilitating guests with tea, water etc. as and when needed
  • Photocopying, filing, handling mail, delivering goods and correspondences
  • parcels, packages, and delivery and collection of official documents as per required
  • Assisting in organizing; arranging meetings, training and workshop activities
  • Any other task given by the admin department on need basis 
Requirements and Skills

PERSONAL QUALITIES, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge 

Understanding of transportation law- E
Good traffic judgment-E
Good knowledge about Vehicle mechanics -E
Knowledge of the roads of major routes to major cities (specially to those where SHIRAKAT implements projects)- D
Knowledge on operation and maintenance of the vehicle- D 

Skills 

Excellent driving skills - E
Flexible, effective team work and interpersonal skills- E 
Good communication skills- E 
Good in communicating in English- D
Basic writing skills (English or Urdu)-D 

Experience 

Minimum 05 years’ experience with NGOs and INGO on the position of driver with good driving record- E 
Experience with driving to remote locations on project field trips and driving off the road in difficult conditions- D 

Abilities/ Qualities

Willing to work long and irregular hours and on public holidays as required- E

Education

Martic Certificate(pass)
Valid driving license
Training in vehicle maintenance and repairs
