Background
  • The Education Officer (OOSC and Non-Formal Learning) will be based in the Sindh Field Office. Education is a major component of the Country Programme, and the Field Office also has a major Education Programme. Education Officer (OOSC and Non-Formal Learning) reports to the Education Specialist, who is at Level 3 (NOC).

    Under the supervision of the Education Specialist, the Education Officer (OOSC and Non-Formal Learning) provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for Non-Formal Education programmes and projects in development and emergency context within the Country Programme. This includes responsibilities ranging from development planning to the delivery of results. The officer will prepare, execute, manage, and implement a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to support programme development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, with a focus on non-formal and multiple learning pathways to ensure inclusive and equitable access to quality education for out of school children. A particular focus of the position is to support the implementation of the learning-focused Global Partnership for Education (GPE)-funded System Transformation Grant (STG).

Requirements
  • Minimum requirements:

    • Education: A university degree (Bachelor's) in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field.
    • Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
    • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required

    Desirables:

    • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
    • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
    • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset
    • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
