The Education Specialist (Learning) is based the Sindh Field Office (FO), Pakistan. The Education Programme is a major component of the Country Programme, and the Field Office also has a major Education Programme. The Education Specialist (Learning) reports to the Education Manager who is at Level 4 (P4).
Under the guidance and general supervision of Education Manager (Level 4), the Specialist (Learning) plays a critical role in strengthening education systems by focusing on foundational learning to enhance learning outcomes. The Specialist leads the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs that integrate core learning competencies with relevant life skills and aiming to prepare children for a rapidly changing world. This includes foundational literacy, numeracy and social emotional skills as well as digital skills, both in formal and non-formal contexts to create more resilient, future-ready learners. The post will also provide technical leadership and support in UNICEF’s work on designing, implementation and regular monitoring and reporting of quality pre-primary ECE programme in the province contributing to programmatic and system level targets in the province. The post will also be supporting the provincial Government in instituting primary schools' leadership programme for academic mentoring and support for primary school teachers.
The Specialist contributes to achievement of results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework. A particular focus is technical support on learning for the GPE-funded System Transformation Grant (STG) in the province.
