Background
  • The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. To learn more please visit about GGGI web page.

    Pakistan became a member of GGGI in 2021, and the Ministry of Environmental Coordination and Climate Change (MoCCEC) has signed the GGGI Pakistan Country Program Framework 2024-2028 in November 2024 at Baku. The Host Country Agreement (HCA) has been submitted to the government on Dec 10, 2024, for its review and feedback. The HCA is expected to be signed in Q2 2025.

    The GGGI has been working on various projects and initiatives including the LT-LEDS project with GiZ, UNEP/CTCN-funded and KGNDF co-funded ‘Development of a Technology Roadmap for the Implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions of Pakistan’ project, and the BMWK-funded ‘Supporting Preparedness for Article 6 Cooperation’ program and few more project proposals and initiatives.

    The GGGI is in the process of establishing its Country Office in Pakistan and signing an HCA. There is a need to hire an individual consultant to assist the Senior Program Officer in program development and to facilitate some of the administrative work. The GGGI is seeking the services of an individual to support the Country Office functioning in terms of program/project activities both from the programmatic and operational perspective.

     

    DELIVERABLES AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE

    The IC will provide support to the Country Office in assisting the Senior Program Officer in the implementation of program/project activities, program development and carrying out certain administrative tasks that will ensure efficient running of the country office. The IC is expected to be highly professional and must be extremely well organized to stay on top of multiple meetings, document review and meeting deadlines. The IC will be required to sit in the Country Office for at least 18 days per month and the work of this IC will be of the following scope:

     

    1) PURPOSE:

    • Work in close collaboration with the Program Lead and other GGGI staff and consultants within the country and contribute to the development of the Country Office program.
    • Support the development of the pipeline of projects to ensure continuity of GGGI activities in Pakistan
    • Assist the program in carrying out certain administrative tasks that may ensure the effective functioning of the Country Office.

    2) ENGAGEMENT:

    • Work closely with the Senior Program Officer and Asia Program Management and Strategy Officer to identify, develop and progress ideas, concept notes, and proposals for submission to donors.
    • Provide support in coordinating various meetings and inputs from GGGI’s thematic experts to ensure timely inputs of quality.
    • Assist in coordinating with the government officials, donors and development partner counterparts to understand priorities, ensuring alignment of project proposal objectives and gaining buy-in.
    • Support the representation of GGGI in various meetings with the government, private sector and development partners, as and when required.
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee compliance of GGGI’s HR, Procurement, Events, and Travel related processes.

    3) DELIVERY

    • Assist in the implementation of LT-LEDS project, NDC support areas and subsequent development of concept notes for resource mobilization.
    • Work closely with the Senior Program Officer and Asia Program Management and Strategy Officer in preparing the idea notes and concept notes related to Pakistan’s development priorities to support resource mobilization.
    • Keep track of existing and new projects under implementation by other entities in Pakistan to avoid duplication and maximize complementarity.
    • Keep track of donor priorities, funding opportunities and calls for proposals to maximize the opportunity for GGGI Pakistan to engage in resource mobilization.
    • Assist in preparing PowerPoint presentations, and other documentation to support engagement internally and externally.
    • Assist in developing workplans, timelines, TORs, and other relevant documentation to ensure that new proposals are developed on time and are of sufficient quality.
    • Support administration aspects of GGGI projects in Pakistan and carry out some of the administrative duties as and when required.
    • Assist in arranging workshops under various activities across Pakistan and dealing directly with vendors and partners as and when required.

     

Requirements
    • At least a Bachelor's degree in economics, sustainable development, environmental sciences, international relations, engineering, or any discipline related to the assignment.
    • At least 4 years (Preferably 5 years) of professional experience in the above fields.
    • Working experience with international organizations would be an asset.
    • Fluency in English is required, fluency or a strong grasp of local languages is a plus.
    • Pakistani citizen or entitled to work in Pakistan.
