Under its Humanitarian Action Programme, UN Women will be implementing a joint project with the support from the Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) entitled Identification and redressal of GBV in refugee and host populations through community-based mechanisms in Pishin and Quetta in Balochistan. The project aims to ensure availability of essential GBV services for survivors by addressing gaps in GBV response created by the government’s changed priorities and reallocation of resources to other services by strengthening existing government facilities and support mechanisms for GBV prevention and response.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Portfolio Manager EVAW, GOV and HR, the Project Assistant based in Balochistan will support the project operations by performing a variety of standard administrative processes ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. The Project Assistant will promote a client, quality and results-oriented approach.
The Project Assistant will with and provides support to the members of the Project Team in the development and implementation of the project. The Project Assistant will provide effective support and assistance to the team to ensure smooth project implementation in line with UN Women rules and regulations.
Completion of secondary education is required. Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration or related field is an asset.

Women’s human rights and governance: UN Women works with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights, national and provincial women organizations and key partners to adopt and implement pro-women legislation. UN Women provides technical assistance and enhances the capacity of the Election Commission of Pakistan to increase women’s political leadership and participation as voters, candidates and administrators. UN Women enhances the capacity of regional Women Development Departments and CEDAW Provincial Committees to deliver on international and national gender equality commitments and to integrate these into local laws, policies and frameworks.
Women’s economic empowerment: UN Women is enhancing economic empowerment opportunities for women, especially of those who are most excluded. Through the provision of technical assistance to the government departments, UN Women is working for the adoption and implementation of laws and policies, including the Home-Based Workers Policies and the Social Protection Policy and plans, to recognize and empower informal women workers into formal waged employment, and provide access to social security services and social protection. UN Women is also providing technical assistance to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics to ensure gender responsive national and specialized surveys.
Preventing violence against women and girls: UN Women advocates and provides technical assistance to parliamentarians, civil society, women’s groups and other institutions to advocate for legislative reviews, increase awareness of the causes and consequences of violence, promote the need for changing norms and behaviour of men and boys, and strengthen coordination among actors for sustained and meaningful action. UN Women works closely with the National Commission on the Status of Women, provincial Women Development Departments and other key partners to implement laws, policies and strategies that address ending all forms of gender based violence.
Women’s leadership in disaster risk reduction and management: UN Women provides technical support to the national, provincial and district level disaster management authorities (and their gender and child cells) to adopt and implement gender responsive policies and plans to respond to the needs of women and girls, and increase their representation in policy discourse around preparedness, prevention, response, recovery and mitigation. UN Women builds women’s participation and influence in decision-making and recovery efforts to achieve and sustain peace, including women’s engagement in all aspects of peacebuilding and mediation.
Strengthening One UN coordination on gender equality commitments: UN Women places women’s human rights at the centre of all its efforts and in ensuring that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action. UN Women leads and coordinates efforts of the UN system in their work around a well-coordinated response to uphold gender equality and basic human rights, and reduce gender- and social justice-related exclusions and inequalities faced by the people of Pakistan.
