Background & Description

The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural , fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. This position is located in Islamabad with limited travel to the Project area (Diamer, Chitral, South-Wazirstan, and Sherani districts). Reporting Lines Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Pakistan, the direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator, in close coordination with Provincial Coordinators the Project Associate will be responsible for performing the following duties:

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Support the NRM Advisor in the preparation of project progress reports
  • Assist in organizing consultative workshops, trainings and meetings
  • Prepare project brief and other extension and communication materials for project visibility
  • Maintain the office record
  • Follow up on the pending matters
  • Keep the data of all the key stakeholders for easy communication
  • Prepare minutes of the meetings and record notes
  • Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor
Requirements and Skills
  • Master’s degree in Forestry and/or NRM related disciplines
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in in the supporting developmental projects
  • Working knowledge of the English language and Urdu;
  • National of Pakistan
Technical Skills/Functional Skills
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills;
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams is essential. Multi-disciplinary team development and management experiences’.
  • Knowledge of United Nations and International Organizations’ administrative policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of common administrative and financial rules and regulations
  • Good knowledge of communication and documentation standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of sourcing within the procurement function.
  • Display initiative and take responsibility for achieving agreed outputs within set deadlines and closely follow-up until successful outputs are achieved.
  • Continue to seek new, innovative and improved methods and systems for accomplishing the work assigned.
  • Identify and recommend remedial measures to address problems in systems design or implementation
