Background & Description

The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representatives, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. FAO's mission is to work with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to help build a food-secure country, free of hunger and malnutrition, where food and agriculture contribute to improving the living standards of all, especially the poorest, in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Pakistan, under the direct supervision of Assistant Representative – Program, the Consultant will be responsible for performing the following tasks for Integration of Sustainable Development Goals related to Agriculture and Natural Resources Management (ANR) into National Planning:

Technical Focus

    • Planning
    • Coordination
    • Analysis of Data  
    • Report Writing

Tasks and responsibilities

    • Support the coordination of SDGs initiatives related to Agriculture and Natural Resources;
    • Comprehensive Agriculture Sector desk review of all six drafted provincials/regionals SGDs framework including AJK and Gilgit for development of realistic National ANR Plan.
    • Design and Conduct validation workshop for endorsement of National ANR plan ;
    • Conduct Provincial consultations for resource allocation for ANR SDGs;
    • Train 80 Government officials in resource allocation;
    • Support to FSNIS and other analytical policy work;
  • Perform any other task and duty assigned by the supervisor
Requirements and Skills
    • Master in Agriculture, Economic, Public Policy Management or other relevant degree with at least 10 years of related work experience. PhD degree in related subject will be preferred.
    • Experience in development of Action, Investment and Master Plans.
    • National of Pakistan.

  •  Strong communication skills and strong spirit of teamwork.
