The Akhter Hameed Khan Resource Center (AHKRC) (established 2010 is a non-profit NGO, 1860 Society Act), that builds on the philosophy of renowned Pakistani social scientist Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan[1] to empower poor communities particularly women and girls through grass-root participatory development and research-extension approaches.
AHKRC believes that equitable development happens when women and girls in the poorest communities become organized and are active partners in identification of issues, finding local solutions, and have equal opportunities to information, services and resources. AHKRC serves as the “facilitation hub” by providing mentorship, capacity development, and institutional or resource linkages so that communities can lead their own empowerment transition.
