Background
  • We are seeking a passionate and results-oriented Business Development Officer to join our team and play a key role in securing funding to support our mission. You will be responsible for identifying and securing new funding opportunities from a variety of sources, including bilateral and multilateral government agencies, traditional local leadership, civil society organizations, businesses and industries (Public Private Partnership), and other I/NGOs/donors in the country.

    • Conduct research to identify potential donors, funding opportunities, and partnerships aligned with our mission.
    • Analyze funding trends and develop strategies to secure new resources.
    • Assist with proposal development, including writing, editing, and formatting compelling proposals that meet donor requirements.
    • Manage relationships with existing and potential donors, including building rapport, attending meetings, and following up on leads.
    • Track funding opportunities, deadlines, and application processes.
    • Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns.
    • Monitor and analyze fundraising performance and report on progress to senior management.
    • Stay up-to-date on relevant funding trends and regulations.
    • Ensure regular communication with the country office regional/area/project offices
    • Perform other duties as requested by his/her supervisor.
    • Responsible for developing reports, monitoring and assessing the quality of donor reporting making sure that donor requirements are met during the project implementation phase.
    • Prepare and submit monthly updates and engage in monthly check-in meetings with the regional/area/project offices.
    • Assist thematic lead for Donor Contract Management (DCM) of all institutional grants (National or International), including contract preparation, development of consortium agreements, compliance with donor requirements, and submission of reports.
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining a mechanism for the management of institutional contracts. Ensure all funding files, (electronic, system, and paper) are complete and kept up to date.
    • Responsible for maintenance of records on donor contracts and establishing a close working relationship with the Finance and other relevant departments in managing donor budgeting, contract management, and reporting.
    • Assist thematic lead towards effective coordination and consultation with humanitarian and development forums at national as well as provincial levels.
    • Responsible for identifying research, building and maintaining satisfactory relationships with potential donors at the national and international levels under the supervision of the line manager.
    • Responsible for Humanitarian and development donors’ mapping, including private companies’ CSR, at national and international levels including devising follow-up mechanisms for partnership development
    • Assist & support to line manager in backstopping, guidance and training of MH’s staff in handling partnership matters.
    • Ensure professional standards in all communications to all donors and regional/area offices
Requirements
    • Master’s degree, preferably in a development-related field, or comparable experience, background in Business Development is an asset;
    • At least 3-4 years of international NGO experience in a similar position: donor management, fundraising, identification, and liaison; proposal development;
    • Proven track of successful fundraising;
    • Knowledge of project cycle management;
    • Knowledge of fundraising cycles, proposal format, and application procedures for key donors

    Proven ability to facilitate the development of winning proposals to public and private sector donors

    • Excellent written English skills;
    • Excellent computer skills and competency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines;
    • Excellent communication and report-writing skills;
    • Detail-oriented with good multi-tasking abilities;
    • Culturally sensible and adaptive;
    • Able to work well both within a team and independently, in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment.
