Introduction

We believe that in order to develop an understanding of human rights and citizenship in children, we must provide schools with a socially relevant material that is currently unavailable in the school curriculum.

In order to do this we provide schools with:

  • Campaign material in the form of lesson plans for teachers to conduct in their classrooms.
  • Events and workshops on various themes (e.g. The Billboard Menace – Reclaiming Our Cities from the Billboard Jungle). These are held outside of school for children and teachers to attend. These workshops involve speakers, question and answer sessions, training on how to lobby and field trips. They help to train a new generation of children in social activism.
  • A youth network (Right-On Network) for children below the age of 17. Once children become Right On members, they can get involved in activism on a deeper level on issues that they feel passionate about. If a school contains more than 25 members, they can form a club. Annual Right-On meetings and conferences are held for members to have the opportunity to get together with other Right-On members from all the schools in Karachi and discuss activities that they have carried out.
