Introduction

CBM Christoffel-Blindenmission Christian Blind Mission e.V (CBM) is an international development organisation, committed to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the poorest communities of the world irrespective of race, gender or religious belief.

Based on its core values and over 100 years of professional expertise, CBM addresses poverty both as a cause and as a consequence of disability, and works in partnership with local and national civil society organisations to create an inclusive society for all.

CBM is a federation composed of 11 member associations based in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, New Zealand, South Africa, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States and an international office with a network of regional and country offices that work closely with our partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America. CBM’s head office is based in Bensheim, Germany.

 

Disability-Inclusive Development is the framework of all CBM initiatives and the key theme, which drives the activities and the impact of the work globally. With a global network of partners, CBM seeks to build and promote an inclusive world in which all persons with disabilities enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential.

 

CBM in Pakistan

Is a registered INGO having signed an MoU with the Government of Pakistan based on the INGO policy.
Has developed a Country Strategic Plan1, which provides a clear direction for all its interventions.
Implements projects through partner organizations, which include relevant public sector organizations (i.e. institutes and hospitals) and bodies (i.e. National Committee for Eye Health, NCEH) and private sector organizations (i.e. hospitals, NGO’s and Disable People Organizations).
Focuses available resources in the following key areas related to its core mandate:Health especially Eye Health – (cataract surgeries, mid-level human resource development in eye health, eye health system strengthening through supporting government health department to strengthen access to services for the most marginalised including persons with disabilities)
Inclusive Education – preschool inclusive kindergarten
Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) including Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DIDRR)

Emergency Response as and when required
Geographically, supports projects spread over three provinces of Pakistan i.e. Punjab, KP and Sindh.
