Introduction

Gender and Empowerment Organization (GEO) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. It was registered in April 2006, with the Directorate of Social Welfare, under the NGOs Registration Act 1961. GEO is also registered with PDMA, TTB and FBR.

GEO knows well that achieving of protecting of human rights goals are required long-term, sustainable efforts. Changes will ultimately take place within communities, but has to be supported by collective efforts at local, regional and international levels. GEO works on ground to achieve collective goals, in this perspective organization has initiated many activities which directly or indirectly effect to protecting human rights and promoting active citizenship concept.

Under the projects of Tdh-Germany, UNESCO, UNDP, WHO and Government of Pakistan organization has conducted such kind of activities for promoting good governance, human rights, girl’s education, access to health-education facilities via service provision and providing opportunities.

GEO works in close collaboration with communities, elected representatives, policy makers, local organizations and line departments. GEO has linkages with local governments, press, radio, TV, research institutes, women groups, educational institutes, bar associations, professional organization, teacher-students unions, labour and trade unions as well as private sectors

Mobilization, coordination, lobbying, advocacy and media tools were use to achieve the objective of area development in the region. GEO particularly focuses to ensure the maximum participation of vulnerable sections wherever required and relevant either directly or indirectly. GEO works with the holistic approach in taking careful consideration in gender sensitivities and in local norms and values.

Transform programs at all levels supporting and empowering professional and rural women together to achieve gender equality and environmentally sustainable society.

 

Mission
GEO believes the organizational strength of women as an important step towards social and economic empowerment. Apart from, other development activities for these women’s groups are taking interest in girls’ education, health, and socio-economic development with the region.

To establish and support platforms to achieve higher levels of energy and commitment for the dual causes of rural women's empowerment and provide the basic education to all.
To transform programmes and organizations by strengthening the position of women professionals and increasing their effectiveness and service to rural women.
Organization strives to alleviate poverty and empower low income communities through diverse and environmentally sensitive strategies blending indigenous and innovative models.
Objective
Enhance women’s awareness about their rights, specifically about their Reproductive Rights; in general, provide a platform for women, where they can share ideas and work for their own overall empowerment and development;
Put up aptitude of human and organizational resources through training and research.
Disseminate Information, Education and Communication (IEC) awareness through different means, for instance, electronic and print media, handbills, poster, research and publications.
To increase citizens’ awareness about their civic, social and economic rights
To eradicate all kind of violence from the society;
Try to eliminate the gender discrimination and child marriage in every field of life;
To establish Equality and Justice for women and rise the women moral value in the society.
Support to the vulnerable peoples of disasters.
