Introduction

Gilgit-Baltistan Rural Support Programme (GBRSP) was established in 2012 under Section 42 of the Company’s Ordinance 1984 (under Act 2017) as a non-profit organization. GBRSP started its formal operations in 2016 after receiving an endowment fund from the Government of Gilgit Baltistan.

Basic Themes of GBRSP are Economic development & Social empowerment (Infrastructure     Development, NRM (Agriculture, Livestock & Dairy, Fisheries, Forestry etc.) Technical & Vocational Skill Development, Enterprise & Value Chain Development, Renewable Energy, Establishing & Strengthening Local Institutions, Health, Education, Capacity Building, Research & Advocacy) Gender, M & E and Environment are cross-cutting themes.

Aiming to develop a prosperous and peaceful society in Gilgit-Baltistan, GBRSP has benefited around 264353 females and 233671 male members of the community by utilizing around 207 Million PKR from 2012 to 2020. UNOCHA, IFAD, UN-WFP, Plan Pakistan, UNICEF, Global Affairs of Canada, and Government of Gilgit Baltistan remained the major donor in uplifting the lives of disadvantaged groups in GB. Major projects include construction of shelter in flood-affected areas in GB, early recovery and emergency relief in flood, Enhancing female literacy rate, Rehabilitation of community infrastructure, youth development programme, women Resource Centers, Microfinance scheme, community mobilization, and many other steps to achieve the vision of GBRSP.
