In the recent times, a number of environmental and socio-economic issues, such as climate change, deforestation, Water sanitation and Health, unemployment, Child labor and poverty have gathered wide attentions of social and political community. These matters are at the center of the political and economic areas and at the top of the developmental agenda of every developed country in the world. Unfortunately in developing countries, these core issues have been continuously neglected due to illiteracy and poverty. Situation is worse in Pakistan since it has passed most of its time under political instability. In addition, it is one of those countries which is being and will be greatly affected by climatic and environmental fluctuations. In order to cope with the challenges of increasing population, environmental deterioration and unsustainable economic development, a harmonious collaboration between human development efforts and environment concerns are urgently needed to achieve the ultimate goal of sustainable development. A pool of professionals from academia and research founded “Greenstep Foundation” with one point agenda of ensuring sustainability through collaborative work on environmental conservation and social prosperity.
Greenstep Foundation is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization which is registered in 2018 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Greenstep wish to strengthen social, economic and environmental well-being by conducting objective-oriented research and development work in the local settings which lead to global impact. The organization works in the cities, towns and villages with multidimensional goals including health and sanitation, environmental education, literacy, gender equality, child labor, minorities, food security, poverty alleviation, sustainable agriculture, and climate change mitigation.
