Introduction

Hawwa Associates is an NGO, registered with Social Welfare Department in 1991, however  operating as unregistered NGO since 1984 at Lahore. Hawwa in collaboration  with UNICEF, UNIFEM, TVO, Action Aid Pakistan, DFID, RSPN, ILO and AHAN. Now Hawwa is providing alternate professions to women to be home-based  entrepreneurs.
Hawwa is providing skill development opportunities to women of slums of Lahore in handloom weaving, stitching, cutting, screen printing, block printing and embroidery crafts for last 25 years. The trained women who belong to different localities of slums come to Hawwa center and take orders for their livelihood.
Hawwa is committed to the pursuit of socio-economic development. Hawwa initially identify poorest women who had potential of crafts but had no facility to orientate their skill in to financial capacity. Identified potential craft women are provided skill training as they operate home-based entrepreneurs or provide support to the family through establishing home based training unit. Facilitate craft women sale procedures and create leadership capacity through training in mobility and dialogue in marketing sector, also how to make bill, identify cost input, open bank account and understand the legal aspect of family laws and marriage.
Hawwa craft center facilitate as a liaison and networking hub between buyers and women artisans. Almost 120 women are attached with center for their livelihood as home-based entrepreneurs. Hawwa craft have the facilities of stitching, cutting, embroidery, block printing, screen printing, handloom weaving and dying facilities under one roof.
To improve artisans in quality and designing Hawwa has taken initiative to enhance the skill of artisans in designing and quality as to empower them to get handsome income through their skills. Hawwa provide the facility of designer to deliver new marketable designs and to check the quality of the products being produced by these artisans. Provide innovative craft training to women artisans as to keep traditional designs with modern touch.

Mission
The main focus of our work is Human Rights, Social Development, Education, NGO Networking, Environment, Youth, Health, International Campaign against Aids, Women Empowerment, Media, Democratization, Humanitarian Aid, Disaster Management, Peace Keeping Disarmament and sustainability through development and support of civil society initiatives and goals.

 

Objective
Overall objective of the program is, to build up capacity of women of all age groups as to eliminate poverty at initial stage. Provide business skills as artisans may be able to identify price structure, quality control, packing, labor and profit ratio as to make themselves safe from middle women or black mailing buyers and built up capacity to be self-employed in the total sum up.
Through the marketing linkages Hawwa may provide to other NGO’s & marketing institutions strengthening power, as self-employed women’s income may be multiplied.
