Integrated Regional Support Program-IRSP

IRSP is a multi?sector development organization working on integrated approach to bring sustainabledevelopment in the region. IRSP was evolved from Pak?German IRDP (established in 1984) and wentthrough evolutionary process of its organizational development. Being established in 1996 and formallyregistered in 2001. The Pak?German IRDP (GTZ funded Program) in 1984 initiated developmental projects in poppycultivation districts of KP. The projects carried out its activities for more than a decade. The IRDP staffarranged a series of social and community organization campaigns to enable the poor and vulnerablerural communities to be a part of the planning and implementation of the proposed IRDP projects andafter phasing out stage the communities should operate and maintained the work carried out. It wasdecided to hire a consultant to review the IRDP developmental projects before its phasing out in 2000.The consultant came up with findings that the projects have far reaching effects in the developmentand organization of the rural communities and it was suggested to continue the process. This was the stage where various partner organizations of the IRDP were summoned to finalize the strategy forsustaining the good work done. The partner organization of IRDP develop consensus to form a bodywhich could find ways and means to sustain itself and coordinate with stakeholders for better projectmanagement for public wellbeing. This gave birth to IRSP.

IRSP envisions developing a sustainable rural development model for reducing poverty and promotingsustainable means of livelihood for the poor and disadvantaged communities throughout the country
