Introduction

Justice Project Pakistan (JPP) is a non-profit, human rights law firm based in Pakistan that provides pro-bono legal advice, representation and investigative services to the most vulnerable prisoners facing the harshest punishments.
Our lawyers provide free legal representation to prisoners on death row and those unlawfully detained in secret prisons around the world. We litigate strategically to expose and redress key problems in Pakistan's criminal justice system, such as fair trial and torture. We help educate national and international litigators at annual seminars and workshops in Pakistan.
JPP's clients include prisoners on death row, survivors of police torture, mentally ill and physically disabled risoners
and Pakistani citizens detained abroad. JPP conducts strategic litigation to challenge unjust laws and to create progressive legal precedents. JPP's litigation aims to improve the rights of the mentally ill, restrict the application of the death penalty, bring Freedom of Information to Pakistan, and enforce the fundamental rights of prisoners. It also organizes conferences and trainings in its areas of expertise for judges and lawyers to build capacity within the legal community.

Vision
JPP envisions a future where all Pakistanis “ both at home and abroad“ know their legal rights, are entitled to a fair trial, and provided with adequate legal representation. JPP advocates for a change in both public perception and awareness of Pakistani prisoners as well as a judicial system which treats the accused and detain with fairness and dignity.

Mission
Employ strategic litigation to set legal precedents that reform the criminal justice system in Pakistan. Our innovative approach is to pursue cases on behalf of individual clients that have the potential to set precedent allowing those in similar situations to better access their legal and human rights. We model an equitable legal practice, inspiring and training a new generation of Pakistani lawyers to litigate strategically and challenge unjust laws and inhumane conditions.
