Muzaffarabad Poverty Alleviation Program-MPAP

The issue of poverty and hunger is one of the greatest challenges faced by more then half of the Muzaffarabad population. This issue is generically top of the list worldwide from the time when millennium development goals were set by the international community. Likewise the highly prioritized issue in district Muzaffarabad is the matter of un-employment and poverty. Thus need of a community based program was felt to contribute effectively towards sustainable livelihood by stimulating local economy and create self employment opportunities through small and medium enterprise development.

Being in the context mentioned above members of cluster forum of community based organizations i.e. “Community Development Organization” decided to have a register Organization to respond the rapidly growing issue of poverty and hunger with a targeted and pin-point approach. The organization is named as “Muzaffarabad Poverty Alleviation Program” which is registered under Pakistan societies act 1860/21 Applicable to Azad Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir (Registration # 5216)

This organization is basically aimed to be recognized for its comprehensive approach towards improvement of livelihoods through equitable and sustainable use of natural resources, enhanced access to income generating opportunities through micro-credit, skills enhancement and enterprise development.

“Eradicate poverty and hunger through equal, just and sensible distribution of resources, its appropriate utilization and conservation so that a prosperous society develops on the principles of justice and prosperity.”

Mission
To develop alternate leadership of socially excluded segments, downtrodden class, ultra-poor families and marginalized portions of the civil society from grass roots level and enhance their will power, capacity to do work and livelihood, to take up responsibility by sharing of information and confirmation of participation in decision making process, assuring empowerment at all level through democratic methods for effecting social context and speeding up social change.

Objective
Partner communities are empowered to play an Effective Role in Local Development.
Every household receiving more effective, efficient, need based social sector services.
Livelihood opportunities for every rural households improved especially the poor.
Enhance human & institutional capacities for poverty alleviation & local development.
