The Community Engagement Office of the Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad (hereinafter known as “CEO”) is pleased to announce an open competition for cooperative agreements, contingent on funding availability, through the Public Diplomacy Grants Program.
Under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), CEO is seeking proposals for innovative ways to change social discourse and reduce acceptance of extremist narratives and ideology. Proposals should aim at preventing and countering extremist narratives in Pakistan by promoting conflict resolution and peacebuilding methodologies and fostering dialogues with a focus on engaging communities through influencers including women, youth, and religious leaders.
Project Goal: The purpose of this funding opportunity is to build community resilience to/against extremist ideologies perpetuating violence through community-based initiatives offering alternative narratives and opportunities to change the public discourse.
The proposal must include one or more of the following target audience(s): community influencers including women, youth, and/or religious leaders. Beneficiaries and audiences should be appropriate to the strategies proposed and may include a variety of societal segments addressing leaders and influencers or addressing vulnerable populations. Unless strong justification is provided, all projects should strive to achieve gender balance. Projects can be nationwide or focused on specific geographic areas with an explanation of why the specific geographic region is relevant to the strategy.
