Introduction

Sangtani Women Rural Development Organization (SWRDO) is a Non-profit, non- political, non-religious and non-government organization struggling to provide a peaceful environment to all human beings where they can utilize their potentials for sustainable development. It involves general public, organizations and individuals and operates without discrimination on the basis of religion, race, colour, nationality and ethnicity. The organization has two main sections, which works in close coordination for sustainable development, SWRDO registered under Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Act 1961 with Social Welfare Dept on September 1997 and registered under Society Act 1860 at National level, working in the rural and urban areas of South Punjab and Sindh, Pakistan.

 

Vision
Visualizes a prosperous society where access to justice and socioeconomic empowerment is not discriminated on the bases of gender, age, cast, color, religion, and ethnicity and due to some political and social opinion.

 

Mission
To remove the barriers which halt the empowerment of vulnerable groups and individuals through integrated approaches of research, awareness, policy advocacy, social mobilization, capacity building, improved governance and service delivery in protection of human rights, disaster management and rehabilitation, climate change mitigation and environmental management, livelihoods and food security, education, health and WASH.

 

Objective
The major objectives to achieve the mission and vision are as follows:

Promote and protect the human rights of the vulnerable groups and individuals including women, children, youth, elderly, persons with diverse abilities, orphans, widows and displaced populations.
Enhance their access to improved skills, microfinance services, livelihoods, and economic development opportunities for food security and prosperity.
Improve their living conditions through enhanced access to health, education and WASH facilities.
Empower the target communities through social mobilization and institutional, financial and technical  capacity building for participatory planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
Plan and implement climate change mitigation and adaptation and environmental management initiatives for disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.
Develop local capacities for disaster management; preparedness, response and rehabilitation through protection mainstreaming.
Provide psychosocial and legal aid services to the victims of violence and those lacking access to legal services.
