Introduction

Society for Human and Environmental Development (SHED) is a non-governmental organization registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on September 22, 2007. SHED is striving hard to put all its energies into contributing to empowering the vulnerable, oppressed and deprived communities, through right based and target oriented human development issues on sustainable basis without any discrimination in order to build Pakistan prosperous and strengthened. SHED provides quality and professional service delivery to multi-cultural marginalized communities in rural and urban areas of Pakistan through community participation and engagement in close collaboration with the government agencies and other relevant stakeholders. SHED strongly believe and ensure the gender equality, diversity, environment protection, quality and accountability with transparency at all levels of its programming. SHED has wide experience of working in 13 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including , Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda,  Hangu,  Lower Dir,  Swat, Torghar, Buner, Malakand, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat, D.I Khan, and 05 agencies of FATA including Khyber Agency, Orakzai Agency, Kurram Agency, South Waziristan Agency, North Waziristan Agency and also in Punjab in Attock  and Mianwali Districts.

 

Vision
SHED envisions a tolerant and peaceful society – a society striving for equality, justice, harmony, prosperity, uplifting the oppressed and deprived by providing sustainable development support, protected environment and building their capacity.

 

Mission
SHED has a Mission to create unity, solidarity, and understanding among multi-religious communities in Pakistan to build Pakistan prosperous, strengthened, and free from all types of discrimination, with equal opportunities for vulnerable segments of the society for equal access to a sustainable development and healthy environment.

 

Objective
To promote governance, human rights, empowerment of women, children, people with disabilities, youth, and minorities, environment protection, child protection, conflict resolution as well as peace building through mobilization, advocacy, research, awareness rising campaigns and information dissemination.
To improve quality of socio-economic life through improvement of health and education services, community infrastructure, capacity building,  livelihood, provision of clean drinking water, improvement of health and hygiene, protection of natural resources as well as economic empowerment of the poor and marginalized segment of the society.
To respond to humanitarian emergencies by helping people cope with crisis, through disaster risk reduction, emergency relief, preparedness and post-crisis recovery and rehabilitation.
