Introduction

Society for Relief & Development is a non-profit, non-government organization registered in June, 2015 with the Joint Committee of Registrar under Societies Act 1860 Lahore – Pakistan. We are based in Islamabad. SRD exists to help poor and vulnerable children, women and young people to gain education and economic opportunities to increase their resilience towards poverty and social problems. SRD is governed by the autonomous board of directors and has a strong management system with policies and procedures in place to implement projects and programs.

Education

We are working with the children through providing basic education in the government and non-formal education schools in the target areas of intervention. We are providing awareness to the different stakeholders at the community level to provide basic education to the children.

Agriculture

We also work with small farmers and community members through creating awareness about the importance of food security and livelihood development associated with the agriculture. We are running awareness-raising campaigns and sessions with the farmers to adopt and use different state-of-the-art modern technologies and techniques to improve their socio-economic condition.

Enterprise Development

We are working on food security and livelihood under enterprise development and small businesses establishment through mentoring and providing the young men and women with different income generation opportunities. We also provide facilitation to youth to link up with the government skill development initiatives to avail income generation opportunities.

Disaster Risk Reduction

SRD is working on disaster risk reduction. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are involved in the distribution of the food and cash grants to the vulnerable and poor community members in our target areas of intervention. DRR is a strategic area of intervention through which we are strengthening the capacity of our staff by involving external volunteers and experts to focus and strengthen the organizational capacity in DRR.

Social Inclusion and Harmony

SRD is working with the youth of diverse faiths to identify the commonalities of working together in harmony. We are working with different youth and social and political leaders to connect the youth of mixed faith to engage in the recreational and business related initiatives to promote social inclusion and harmony among the people from different faiths. SRD has a group of volunteers and international experts that are working with SRD to promote this area of intervention.
