Introduction

Constituted as an association under the French law of 1901 and recognized as being of general interest, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is based on open associative governance: any person – anywhere in the world – who demonstrates an interest in the action of our association can ask to join us, and thus become an adherent member.

In 2005, the Kashmir region of Pakistan was hit by a 7.6 magnitude earthquake. During the next 24 hours, 45 aftershocks were recorded. The earthquake ultimately killed 80.000 people and irreversibly damaged the country’s infrastructure.

In 2010, the country faced a new natural disaster when unprecedented flooding began following heavy monsoon-related rainfall. A fifth of the territory was affected, the flooding impacting over 20 million people and destroying 800,000 homes.
