Introduction

Star Welfare Organization ( SWO) is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organization that has been actively serving humanity since 1998. In 2006 we were registered under Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance. Since 2011 SWO has expanded its services in the entire length and breadth of Punjab.

This organization is strongly committed to women's human rights, women's sustainable social, and economic development, and consistent justice within society. Our shelter homes in Sargodha and Rawalpindi can house 35 and 25 women respectively. The shelter provides services to destitute women who have left abusive relationships.

Our skilled staff provides counseling services, referrals to women and children groups, and economic and social rehabilitation to enable women to be able to reintegrate into society and be economically independent to sustain themselves and their children.

Vocational training is also imparted to empower women. It is one of the few facilities in Pakistan that accepts women with male children up to age 10. At the moment we are housing 27 Women 12 children and 14 elderly at our shelter homes. The monthly cost of arranging for food and clothing for each individual amounts to 20,000 Rs, Medical costs are not included. Some of the inmates require urgent medical attention funds for these are arranged with the help of donors. On average each month we incur approximately 55000 in medical costs. Recently, we have established a 25-bed “Star Women’s Hostel” at Rawalpindi & Sargodha for the support of poor and needy working women who need a hostel to enhance their education and work. Star Women’s hostel empowers working ladies to have a safe and secure environment.
