The Diabetes Centre - TDC

TDC project was conceived by a diverse group of dedicated and committed professionals with a daunting task of catering diabetes and its complications at the same place. TDC is a not for profit institute that serves diabetic patients without any difference. All deserving and underprivileged patients are treated regardless of their ability to bear the expenses.
Pilot project started in February 2014 in a rented office in G-11 Islamabad and then in Phulgran as a make shift center lodged in five 40 feet containers. Now it is a full-fledged purpose built hospital complex with covered area of over 80,000 square feet. Center has catered over 100,000 patients’ visits.
TDC operations started with a dedicated and committed nine member operational team of trained and experienced professionals and now we are a family of over 100 members. At strategic level a board comprising of diverse group of accomplished subject experts of medical, engineering, finance, business and other back grounds who keep a vigilant eye on the current and futuristic initiatives of the organization.
Services at TDC started with offering of a modest outpatient of diabetic patients. In the beginning, OPD was managed in a makeshift infrastructure in portable containers. Systems and processes evolved and a planned patient flow mechanism implemented. The services started with anoutpatient department a modestly functioning lab, diabetic education, nutritional counselling, foot care and nephrology needs. Team grew quickly because of increasing flow of new and repeat patients. Required equipment procured. Three years incubation period in the containers taught the team resilience, hard work, multitasking and synergy. This paved way for a robust and practical system development and build this momentum to hatch and accommodate in new purpose build physical infrastructure.
History of diabetes management in Pakistan is in making at TDC. What is already achieved in short span of five years is paving way for what is expected to be achieved. A network of Centers of Excellence in all the major cities of Pakistan where comprehensive and compassionate care will be offered to diabetic patients without considering their ability to pay for the services. Big centers will be linked with small referring facilities using telemedicine and other technologies. Developing primary and hard verifiable database to perform high quality research addressing local determinants of diabetes will be the hallmark of TDC.

To provide excellent clinical services to the diabetic patients, irrespective of their ability to pay, with a focus on quality and sustainability of care that would result in better clinical outcomes and improved quality of life.

To foster and support education and training in diabetes management for the medical profession and to promote public education and awareness of diabetes.
