The position is part of the Climate Resilience Component of the Building Resilience and Addressing Vulnerability to Emergencies (BRAVE) in Pakistan. To take lead in formulation of a supporting sustainability plan for each approved community-led infrastructure project to ensure that it has effective linkages with existing institutional mechanisms and has a robust institutional linkage, governance, and business model.
Main Responsibilities of the Field Engineer · Site Identification and Technical Assessment: o Identify, assess, and prioritize potential sites for the rehabilitation of small-scale rural infrastructure, including pathways, irrigation channels, link roads, and culverts under Cash-for-Work (CFW) schemes. o Conduct technical surveys and feasibility assessments for the rehabilitation of communal hand pumps and household-level latrines. o Prepare initial site inspection reports, technical drawings, and measurements for review and approval by the Lead Engineer and donors. · Implementation and Supervision of Works: o Supervise daily construction and rehabilitation activities at assigned sites, ensuring adherence to approved technical designs, quality standards, and timelines. o Oversee the use of light/manual machinery and monitor the participation of laborers engaged under CFW schemes. o Ensure that all engineering works are implemented in accordance with environmental, safety, and quality guidelines. · Data Collection, Validation, and Reporting: o Collect, record, and validate field-level technical data, including measurements, material usage, and work progress. o Submit accurate and timely data, along with photographic evidence and progress updates, to the Lead Engineer for verification and consolidation. o Maintain/supervise site-level documentation, including inventory sheets, material records, and site diaries. · Quality Control and Compliance: o Conduct on-site quality checks to ensure that materials and workmanship meet required specifications. o Immediately report any technical issues, deviations, or safety concerns to the Lead Engineer for corrective action. o Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of rehabilitated facilities upon completion. o Submit completion report and completion certificate of every scheme as per the requirement of the donor. · Community and Stakeholder Coordination: o Coordinate with community representatives and local authorities during site identification, implementation, and monitoring phases. o Ensure community participation in CFW activities and adherence to transparent beneficiary selection processes. · Support and Coordination with Technical Teams: o Work under the guidance and supervision of the Lead Engineer, supporting technical verification and data validation for all assigned schemes. o Collaborate with M&E and WASH teams to provide technical inputs and updates for progress tracking and reporting. · Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: o Enforce safety standards and ensure all site workers follow established safety procedures. o Promote environmentally responsible practices in all construction and rehabilitation activities |
