Shehersaaz is a civil society organization dedicated to Sustainable Uban Development in Pakistan. For last more than 25 years, it has been striving to make cities and other human settlements of Pakistan safer, resilient, sustainable, inclusive, and humane. Shehersaaz undertakes research, advocates solutions, offers alternatives, builds capacities, launches and coordinates public campaigns, develops and publishes literature on various aspects of urban and human settlement development; collaborates with government, non-governmental, academic and research institutions; celebrates local, national and international days; and organizes lecture, competitions and events (expos, seminars, dialogues and conferences) on a variety of themes it works on.

Background and Introduction to the Assignment

PUCCAR (Project for Urban Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience) is one of the ongoing multi-phased and multi-year endeavors of Shehersaaz. During the current phase, PUCCAR is being implemented in selected Union Councils (UCs) of Rawalpindi and Neighborhood Councils (NCs) of Nowshera cities. It has four broad themes:

• Rainwater harvesting at community and household
• Environment-friendly and climate responsive solid waste
• Community based Climate Adaptation (CA) and Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Risk Management (DRM).
• Community organization, awareness, and capacity

Shehersaaz seeks to organize second round of 150 community level training sessions on Solid Waste Management (SWM) and Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) including water conservation in Rawalpindi and Nowshera.

The overall objective of this assignment is to organize the second round of 150 community level training sessions under PUCCAR project for on-going phase in Rawalpindi and Nowshera. The specific objectives include:

• To review training material/manuals and their updating, if so required
• Finalization of training material/manuals with feedback from Shehersaaz
• Preparation of training plans with input from Shehersaaz
• Organization of training sessions including their logistical arrangements
• Rapid pre and post training evaluation using simple pictorial format

Detail of Deliverables:

• 61 training sessions on Rainwater Harvesting and water conservation in Rawalpindi and Nowshera (30 to 31 sessions in each city)
• G0 training sessions on SWM including rooftop/ kitchen gardening in Rawalpindi and Nowshera (45 in each city)
• 02 ToTs on SWM and Kitchen/Roof Top Gardening one in each city Rawalpindi and Nowshera
• 02 ToTs on Rainwater Harvesting and Water Conservation one in each city, Rawalpindi and Nowshera

This assignment is required to be concluded on or before 25 November 2025. All deliverables are hence expected to be completed within this time frame.
