Background
  • Recently Pakistan Country Office have undertaken numerous important data collection activities Like MICS, CLS and have made remarkable efforts to generate knowledge and lessons learned. However, the major gap has been always the capacity to perform in-depth analysis and use data to foster policy dialogue and policy changes in the country. Further efforts are needed to value, disseminate and synthesize that knowledge and promote its use. Strong capacity is needed to support UNICEF interface with partners, academics, and policy makers and UN sister agencies to position UNICEF as an evidence broker for children and young people in the region.

    The primary function of this post is to connect analytics, monitoring and learning to support evidence-based advocacy, conduct visualizations as well as to be a knowledge broker and support improved results for children. This post provides leadership, oversight and technical capacity for the responsible analysis and use of data and information within UNICEF as well as with its partners. It includes technical support to field Offices in their own data and information analysis work to inform policy changes.

Requirements
  • Minimum Requirements:

    • Education: Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Statistics, Data Science, Demography, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, Information Systems and any other related fields.
    • Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Government, International Development, International Non- governmental Organization, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Consultancy in the areas of Research, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, data analysis, data science, data visualization, geographic information systems, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, policy advocacy, capacity building, emergency information management, big data analytics, data harnessing, measurement, methodological development and other areas of applied statistics, data interpretation and use in sectors of concern to UNICEF.
    • Skills: Proven experience with Data Visualizations, GIS, PowerBI, Data Analytics, Emergency Information Management, Data Storytelling is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills especially in communicating complex information and concepts to non-specialist audiences.
    • Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Urdu is required.

    Desirables:

    • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
    • Experience with Remote Sensing Data, Mobile Phone Data, Social Media, and Evidence synthesis are considered as an asset.
    • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
