The DAAD Master's Scholarships in STEM fields are designed to foster the academic and professional development of talented students from developing and emerging countries by enabling them to pursue advanced studies in Germany. The program specifically targets the next generation of specialists and academics in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and engineering, aiming to strengthen innovation capacity and expertise in these fields within the scholars' home countries.

Scholarships are awarded for full-time, on-campus Master's degree programs at state or state-recognized universities in Germany, exclusively in STEM disciplines. Interdisciplinary programs are eligible if they have a clear STEM focus, while programs with integrated study periods outside Germany are not supported. The Master's program must be tuition-free, and the funding period ranges from 10 to 24 months, depending on the standard duration of the chosen program. Funding typically begins on October 1, 2027, or earlier if a preliminary German language course is required.

Scholarship recipients receive a monthly stipend of 992 euros, an annual study grant of 460 euros, health, accident and personal liability insurance, and a travel expense allowance upon request. Additional benefits may include rent subsidies, monthly allowances for accompanying family members, and subsidies for justified additional costs related to disability or chronic illness. Language support is also provided, including coverage of online language course fees, pre-study German courses if required, and reimbursement of language exam fees.

Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree recognized in Germany by the application deadline and must not already hold a Master's degree. Selection is based on academic performance, professional qualifications, language skills, relevant experience, the quality and integration of the proposed study project, motivation, and potential for future impact.
