Fellowship Overview

The Scottish Government, in partnership with the British Council Pakistan, has announced applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls 2026. The scholarship aims to improve access to higher education for talented Pakistani women by covering the cost of university education in selected disciplines.

The programme supports women who face financial barriers to higher education and particularly encourages applications from women with disabilities, applicants from rural areas, and those belonging to minority communities.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

Successful applicants will receive financial support for:

  • Full tuition fees
  • University hostel costs (where applicable)
  • Travel expenses between home and university twice a year for students residing in university hostels.

Eligible Degree Programmes

The scholarship is available for:

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree programmes
  • Master's/MPhil programmes (up to two years)

Applicants must be enrolled in an HEC-recognised university in Pakistan.

Eligible Subject Areas

Scholarships are available for students pursuing degrees in:

  • Education
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Food Security and Agriculture
  • Health Sciences
  • Climate
  • STEM (Master's/MPhil applicants only)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be female.
  • Be a Pakistani national currently residing in Pakistan.
  • Have a confirmed admission offer from an HEC-recognised university.
  • Be enrolled (or planning to enrol) in an eligible Bachelor's or Master's programme in one of the approved subject areas.

Women with disabilities, applicants from rural areas, and members of minority communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted online through the British Council Pakistan.

Before applying, applicants should:

  1. Secure admission in an eligible programme at an HEC-recognised university.
  2. Complete the online scholarship application form.
  3. Upload the required documents, including:
    • CNIC
    • Admission offer/enrolment proof
    • Academic transcripts
    • Tuition fee information
    • Any supporting documents, where applicable.
