Basic Integrated Rural Development Society -BIRDS

Through the proposed intervention, Basic Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS) aims to improve political participation of women at 20 union councils Tehsil Jehangira in District Nowshera.

The organization seeks to do this by undertaking a research focusing on identifying and addressing obstacles to women’s participation in politics; building political/legislative skills of 150 women councilors elected through the local body election in 2015, 45 office bearers of political parties; setting up three 10-member caucuses of women councilors  in Tehsil Jehgira level and enabling them to monitor as well as enhance gender sensitive development at the local government level; and conducting a media campaign emphasizing the role of women in politics.
