Pro-Gender Support Foundation Pakistan

Pro-Gender Support Foundation Pakistan (PGSF) is a national, transgender-led non-profit organisation working across Pakistan for an inclusive society for people of all genders. Rooted in the transgender (khawaja sira) community, PGSF has worked since 2013 alongside transgender persons, women, older people and persons with disabilities who face exclusion, and has reached more than three million people through its work.

PGSF follows a Gender and Development approach built on three steps: reaching excluded people through the community structures they trust, protecting them through rights-based services such as legal identity, health and legal support, and empowering them through education, skills and livelihoods. Alongside this, PGSF works with families, community elders and religious leaders to change attitudes, and with public institutions to improve services and to implement legal and policy commitments on inclusion.

As a transgender-led organisation, PGSF acts as a bridge between communities and the institutions meant to serve them, bringing lived experience into the spaces where services and policies are shaped. It works with government departments, development partners and civil society networks, and is guided by meaningful participation, do-no-harm and safeguarding, and respect for Pakistan’s constitutional guarantees of dignity and equality.
