Introduction

Rural Development Foundation (RDF) is a grass root women led advocacy organization registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 and has a not-for-profit status. Rural Development Foundation (RDF) is working for sexual and reproductive health and rights, improved political participation of women and girls, gender quality, improved civic spaces, human rights, prevention of child marriages and prevention of gender based violence.

The mission of Rural Development Foundation is to work together to establish sustainable people-centered approach to improve the quality of life of women, children and transgender and respond to the immediate needs of those who are vulnerable. Rural Development Foundation empowers communities to articulate demand and access their rights by enhancing their leadership and building networks.

The full and equal participation of women, girls and transgender persons in political, civil, economic, social and cultural life at the national, regional and international levels and the eradication of all forms of discrimination on grounds of sex are priority objectives of Rural Development Foundation. Other objectives include:

 To enhance the safety and well-being of the transgender population and end transphobia.
 To offer a supportive, empowering & non-judgmental environment where Transgender people and their allies can meet, make connections, & proudly promote awareness & acceptance of their sexual identity.
 To promote, protect and support the human rights norms and advocate for the universality of human rights, and promotes accountability when these rights are denied or undermined.
 To take all necessary measures to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and the girl child and remove all obstacles to gender equality and the advancement and empowerment of women politically, socially, culturally and economically.
 To improve lives of girls, make them self-sufficient and utilize girls leadership.
 To promote democracy and improve civic spaces for civil society through dialogue, consultations and continuous advocacy.
 To improve women’s political participation, women’s participation in policy making and decision making process by generating demand and initiating dialogue.
 To strengthen the ability of NGOs/CBOs/CSOs etc. to meet their obligation and requirements in an efficient manner.
 To improve awareness among women, girls and transgender persons on sexual and reproductive health and rights and improve access to SRHR services.
 To mobilize communities on climate change adaptation and develop sustainable plans for climate resilience in communities.
