Background
  • Key Responsibilities

    • Actively engage in on-going self-reflection and continue to advance knowledge and skills related to diversity, equity and inclusion
    • Develop and implement inclusive suitable methodological approaches in the assigned area of responsibility to avoid systematic biases or discrimination.
    • Ensure that the assigned projects are executed with satisfaction for clients, customers and GIZ
    • Operate within the given budget and contractual conditions and parameter of quality and time agreed
    • Ensure compliance with GIZ policies and P&R
    • Ensure technical, content-related and organizational implementation of individual components or measures of a contract, project or program.
    • In consultation with the line manager, steer and monitor activities and measures including contract and engineering plans
    • Review planner’s drawings and BoQ for accuracy; ensure that contractors comply with them by close daily monitoring during renovations
    • Regular presence on construction site to supervise the contractor’s activities, ensuring that they meet the standards expected by GIZ;
    • Review material submitted by contractors for compliance with BoQ and specifications, referring to superior for approval where required
    • Ensure that the contractors provide laborers with safety equipment at the construction sites
    • Ensure that the contractors comply with their work plans to complete the work within the specified timeframe
    • Prepare records of work progress at the construction sites
    • Review and verify submitted invoices for correctness
    • Liaise with TVET staff, institute oversight committees, regional coordinator and technical advisors in providing regional model institutes with equipment
    • Participate in construction oversight committee meetings and follow up on recommendations
    • Coordinate closely with G230 technical team leader whenever required for solving technical and social problems of the ongoing projects.
    • Assist in preparing field visits to construction sites for international visitors and GIZ personnel
Requirements
    • BS degree focusing on construction/civil engineering/architecture or similar degree
    • At least 5 years’ experience working on construction sites as project engineer/supervisor
