Consultancy: Trainers for Capacity Building Workshops for CSOs Verified listing

HRCP seeks expressions of interest from qualified individuals to serve as trainers for two national capacity-building workshops aimed at strengthening civil society organisations’ (CSOs) engagement with national human rights institutions and human rights-related statutory commissions in Pakistan.

The workshops are intended to equip CSO representatives with practical tools, strategies and knowledge to engage effectively with these commissions, monitor human rights abuses, document cases of torture and custodial violence, and advocate for reforms within Pakistan’s national human rights framework.

Each workshop will last 1–2 days and will bring together CSOs representing diverse vulnerable groups and regions, with the aim of fostering cross-sectoral alliances, strengthening coordinated human rights advocacy, and improving their engagement in policy dialogues and capacity to use reporting mechanisms more effectively.

The trainer will be expected to:

• Design and deliver up to two workshops, each involving approximately 15–20 CSO representatives.
• Develop practical and participatory training sessions covering effective engagement and collaboration with rights-based statutory commissions.
• Build participant’s knowledge of the legal framework governing rights-based statutory commissions and their respective mandates, particularly the National Commission for Human Rights.
• Build participants’ knowledge and skills in monitoring and documenting human rights violations, including torture and custodial violence.
• Provide practical guidance on case documentation, reporting and engagement with relevant national human rights mechanisms.
• Facilitate discussion on advocacy strategies and opportunities for CSOs to contribute to policy and legal reforms within the national human rights framework.
• Adapt the training approach to the diverse thematic and geographic backgrounds of participating CSOs and encourage cross-sectoral learning and collaboration.
• Develop or adapt relevant training materials, exercises and practical tools to support participants’ continued application of the skills acquired through the workshops.

Applicants should have at least five years’ professional experience of human rights work, civil society engagement and mobilisation, human rights monitoring and/or advocacy, with demonstrated expertise in the thematic areas covered by the workshops. Experience of facilitating capacity-building programmes for CSOs will be considered an advantage.

Applicants must be based in Lahore, Islamabad or Karachi.

We expect to engage the trainer’s services between 15 and 30 September 2026. The total maximum remuneration available for this assignment is approximately PKR 50,000 per day (net receivable after tax).
