Society for Sustainable Development (SSD) and Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) have signed a project “Champions of Change” in Islamabad on July 5, 2019. The project aims to provide an enabling environment for youth in Pakistan through provision of opportunities for greater civic engagement and to elevate youth voices to play a vital role in achieving both national and international developmental commitments specifically prioritized Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the Government of Pakistan’s Vision 2025 Road-Map.
The project builds on VSO Pakistan and SSD’s previous pilot project, ‘Leaders for Sustainable Development (LSD)’ and focuses on engaging and training youth leaders (previously trained on SDGs and provided opportunities to develop their ideas into social actions) to further cascade their learning to university youth across 06 regions (Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Islamabad Capital Territory).
Through conducting interactive SDGs drives and awareness sessions in selected universities, the youth leaders will lead dialogue and discourse on prioritized SDG goals and provide youth peers opportunities to advocate and highlight their needs and desired course of action needed for achievement of SDGs.
