Community Support Concern (CSC) is an NGO that has been working on Community Development for last 28 years focusing on improving the lives of the underserved communities in Punjab. The main objective of the organization is to provide quality services to the neglected communities through various project interventions like in health, education, awareness on women rights, paralegal trainings, legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, and economic assistance to the poor through access to microcredit loans.
CSC is implementing the project “Promotion of Women’s Right in Punjab and Capacity Development”(PWRPCD) in 30 villages of two Tehsils; Ferozewala and Sharqpur of District Sheikhupura. During the project, CSC will work towards improving the social, political, and legal status of women through sensitization workshops on women rights, paralegal trainings, and other social interventions that would bring a societal change in the community resulting in increased awareness on Women Rights and legal justice to victim women of the area.
On 6th January, 2018, the project launching ceremony was held at the project office, Sheikhupura, where men, women, children, teachers, lawyers, and community representatives from different villages of Sheikhupura participated. During the ceremony, Mr. Nasir Habib, Project Coordinator, PWRPCD, briefed the guests on CSC’s work in the area, its impact, and on upcoming activities of the project. He explained that through the activities, CSC aims to enhance awareness on women rights in the area and provide them with legal assistance to improve their social status. Ms. Raheela Kamran, Advocate, shared amendments to laws concerning women rights, and informed that these changes will help CSC in providing legal assistance to victims in the area. Moreover, the project will engage lawyers and religious leaders to spread awareness on these amendments.
