Position: Dari Speaker / Language Support Officer (Translator & Interpreter)

A national-level organization is seeking a qualified and experienced Dari Speaker / Language Support Officer to join its team for a UNHCR-supported protection project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing accurate interpretation and translation services, supporting GBV case management, and facilitating communication with Dari-speaking communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate consecutive and, where appropriate, simultaneous interpretation between Dari and English, Urdu, and/or Pashto.

• Facilitate communication during interviews, assessments, counselling sessions, community meetings, and trainings.

• Ensure accurate and impartial interpretation without adding, omitting, or altering information.

• Translate project documents, information materials, consent forms, reports, and awareness materials from Dari to English/Urdu and vice versa.

• Assist project staff in communicating with Dari-speaking beneficiaries.

• Support GBV and protection case management through interpretation while maintaining confidentiality.

• Assist in conducting needs assessments and beneficiary interviews.

• Support community awareness sessions and outreach activities.

• Collect community feedback and communicate concerns to project staff.

• Maintain a log of all calls received from clients and community members.

• Ensure secure handling of confidential information.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Linguistics, or related fields.

• Proven fluency in spoken and written Dari (proficiency in Pashto/Urdu/English is highly desirable).

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in translation, interpretation, or community-based humanitarian work.

• Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, confidentiality, and trauma-informed communication.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coordination skills.
